One Voice

Welcome to the Inkpots website, and our blog space. A space where we share our thoughts, tips and occasional know-how.

In a world full of social media, technology, websites, podcasts, blogs, and now AI, we're all surrounded by many wise experts who know stuff: about anything and everything.

It can feel like every possible word has already been said. Is there really room for another voice? For more voices to be added to the mix of what is already the cluttered space of the World Wide Web?

The answer is, most likely, no.

But, in the words of Captain Kathryn Janeway, “One voice can be stronger than a thousand voices”. *

She might have been speaking to a former Borg drone breaking away from the collective hive mind and rediscovering her individuality, but the words still hold.

Because isn't that what so many of us are doing? Breaking free from the collective noise and searching for our own voice?

Searching to be heard. To be validated.

Perhaps even more so in this tech-frenzied age, where a thousand voices are telling us how to cook better, eat better, exercise better, dress better, write better. Even how to organise our fridges better (and honestly who knew we needed that?).

Everyone is telling us how to live…better.

We’ve built our own hive mind. One which we are increasingly plugged into. One which can be noisy and self-limiting. Everyone seems to be doing it better, quicker, smarter, faster.

This won’t be a blog of “how-tos” or “how-not-tos”. It will be a series of short reflections and musings, best read over a cup of tea.

The most valued and powerful words often come from those we are closest to: the friends, the family, the mentors, the colleagues. They're the voices we listen to the most.

Those are the words that matter.

So, here’s to the power of the one voice.

My voice.
Your voice.
Our voices.

They matter.

On that note, it's time to play with some words. See you soon ☺️

* If you’re not a complete Trekkie and have no idea what we're talking about, feel free to go and watch Star Trek Voyager, season 4; episode 2 “The Gift”. Though you might want to watch Scorpion Part I & II beforehand - excellent TV 🖖
